How the Sloan Sports Analytics Conference Simplified Navigation and Networking for 2,500+ Attendees at SSAC 2026

By Multiple Contributors June 9, 2026 7 min read

The MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference is one of the most recognized gatherings in sports analytics, bringing together athletes, executives, researchers, and industry leaders for two days of panels, presentations, and conversation. Running an event of that profile means the attendee must be able to handle a program of that density. For SSAC 2026, MIT partnered with Event Cadence to build a white-labeled mobile app that could support a dense two-day program and help 2,500+ attendees navigate it without friction.

1. The challenge: making complexity feel simple

With 100+ sessions mapped across multiple rooms and tracks, and 170+ speakers on the program, the core challenge at SSAC 2026 wasn’t content. It was clarity.
Attendees needed to move through a packed schedule confidently, find the sessions that mattered to them, adjust plans in real time, and connect with other attendees between panels. Doing all of that across a two-day program, at scale, requires more than a printed agenda. It requires an app that works.

2. The solution: a white-labeled app built for SSAC

Event Cadence built and deployed a fully white-labeled mobile app carrying MIT and SSAC branding throughout. Attendees interacted with a product that felt native to the event, not a third-party tool bolted on.
Behind the branded experience was a fully supported build process. The Event Cadence team worked through the program structure in the weeks before the event, handling:

• 170+ speaker profiles structured and loaded into the app
• 100+ sessions mapped to the correct rooms and tracks
• Data checks and issue flagging throughout the build
• Consistent presence on MIT’s planning calls leading up to the event

MIT’s team noted that the Event Cadence support team was proactively catching data issues before they did, keeping everything on track without adding to their workload. “By opening morning, the app simply worked.” – MIT / SSAC 2026 Team

3. Navigating the program

Once doors opened, attendees had everything they needed to move through two days of programming on their own terms.
The app gave each attendee the tools to:

• Build a personalized schedule tailored to their own interests and track preferences
• Filter sessions by track or speaker for quick, targeted navigation
• Adjust their plans in real time as the program evolved across both days

For a conference with 100+ events running across multiple spaces, that kind of flexibility is what separates a good attendee experience from a frustrating one.

4. Networking that didn’t rely on hallway chance

One of the more notable outcomes at SSAC 2026 was how attendees used the app beyond the schedule. MIT’s team observed that knowing where contacts were headed made it easier to coordinate between panels, turning what would otherwise be chance encounters into intentional connections. Attendees used the app to navigate toward each other, not just toward sessions. In a conference environment where relationship-building is often as valuable as the content itself, that’s a significant shift in how attendees experience the event.

5. The outcome

SSAC 2026 ran across two full days, 100+ sessions, and 170+ speakers, for an audience of 2,500+ attendees. The app held up throughout. MIT’s team pointed to the pre-event preparation as the reason it did. The work of loading, checking, and reloading information in the weeks prior isn’t visible to attendees on the day, but it’s what makes the difference between an experience that flows and one that doesn’t. The preparation behind it is where Event Cadence adds the most value.

Looking ahead

SSAC 2026 is a clear example of what’s possible when event technology is treated as a strategic part of the attendee experience, not an afterthought.

When the app works, attendees focus on the content and the connections. When it doesn’t, that’s all they remember. If you’re planning a large-scale conference and want an attendee experience that holds up from the first planning call to the final session, we’d love to talk.
