As excited as some people are to get back to in-person events, others are terrified that they might be unnecessarily putting attendees at risk. BUT, if you rethink the way in-person events can be done entirely, you CAN host a safe, effective event without a worry.
In this session with Melissa Park, you will learn the top 5 lessons she learned during the COVID era, and how people can reconstruct in-person events in creative, new ways. Enjoy the whole session video above, or read below for some of the highlights:
With experience at different event companies, Melissa opened her own shop at the age of 26 in Australia. Park found great success, but always had dreams of making it to the United States. She moved to the states in 2014 to work at a tech start up, and after two years, decided to leave again to pursue her own endeavors. In 2017, she revitalized Melissa Park Events, offering end-to-end event management services, and she seamlessly executed large-scale conferences, strategic sponsorships, and innovative brand activations.
Lesson One: Let it out!
It’s okay to be frustrated. Feel all the feels, then move on!
Lesson Two: Move your body, change your mind.
It doesn’t matter the workout, just get your heart rate up. This is proven to relieve stress and clear the mind.
Lesson Three: Set Boundaries & Switch Off
When starting out, most people are yes people. But saying yes to everything can leave you burnt out and resentful. Implement, “If it’s not a hell yes, it’s a no” policy, and watch your life change for the better.
Lesson Four: Assess & Reset
Take the time to assess and ask yourself these questions: How are you tracking against your goals? What has been helpful and was has been hurtful? What has been a waste of time? And what opportunities has covid created for you?
Lesson Five: Progress over Perfection
Cut yourself some slack! Make a list of what you need to do and check them off one at a time. You’ll feel much more accomplished than trying to tackle one monster project.

Park went back to the drawing board and resurfaced one of her old models from 2008 that was inspired by music festivals and tours. She decided it was time to get events back on the road—literally! Park plans to use a convertible truck to host an upcoming event. The truck converts into a main stage and tables and chairs will also be provided. Learn more here.
